Who are eligible to open a Time Deposit Account?

This account is open to all individual and corporate accountholders.

What happens if I pre-terminate my Time Deposit Account?

There will be corresponding charges if you pre-terminate or withdraw your funds from your time deposit account prior to maturity. Here is the computation on how to determine pre-termination charges:

For 30-365 days, 2 years and 3 years:

Total Proceeds = ((Principal x Pre-term interest x days lapsed)/365*) - DST - Applicable withholding tax

For 5 years + 1 day:

Less than 2.5 years 

Total Proceeds = ((Principal x 25% of agreed interest x days lapsed)/365*) - DST - 20% withholding tax

2.5 years to Less than 3 years

Total Proceeds = ((Principal x 50% of agreed interest x days lapsed)/365*) - DST - 20% withholding Tax

3 years to Less than 4 years

Total Proceeds = ((Principal x 50% of agreed interest x days lapsed)/365*) - DST - 12% withholding tax

4 years to 5 years

Total Proceeds = ((Principal x 50% of agreed interest x days lapsed)/365*) - DST - 5% withholding tax

*Provided days lapsed is more than 360 days; 360 shall be used if days lapsed is less than 360; 366 will be used for leap years

Is it insured by PDIC?

Yes. Up to Php 500,000 per depositor.

Is the interest subject to withholding tax?

All time deposit accounts except for 5 years + 1 day opened by an individual account holder are subject to tax. It's 20% tax for Peso Time Deposit accounts and 15% for Foreign Currency Time Deposit.
